Precinct Plan ready for comment

The Parkhurst precinct plan has been drafted and is ready for community input.

The precinct plan is the model on which council reviews and approves planning requests for Parkhurst. This denotes building density, zoning, heritage requirements, green spaces etc.

It is important that as a citizen of Parkhurst you take an active role in designing the suburb. Your input is critical and valuable.

The plan is attached here and available for viewing at the library from 18 March to 1 April 2013. You can submit your comments in the following ways:

In the book attached to the precinct plan at the library, by email to info@parkhurst.org.za by telephone to 0836370394 by mail to PO Box 84637, Greenside 2034

Comments are to be submitted before 5 April 2013.

New cell phone masts for Parkhurst

We (PRABOA) have received two applications for the erection of new cell masts in Parkhurst
1. From Cell C – between 21st and 22nd Street on the Braamfontein Spruit
2. From ATC South Africa – on the grounds of the Parkhurst Primary School – with allowance already made for an additional 6 plinths, next to the School’s tennis courts.
We as a community need to urgently decide whether we want additional cell masts.  If  you object because of the position, but would be happy with another position ,please add your comment about a suitable position.
Everywhere else in the world cell masts are being taken down and cell phones banned in schools because of the health risks they pose to people, and children in particular. Please refer to www.emrrfsa.org for reasons why this is being done and why additional masts are not a good idea. We are being flooded with obsolete technology in Africa that would not be accepted anywhere else in the world.
